Michelle - sometimes it's really helpful to consider how we learn other things in life (music, sports, etc) as we try to improve how we cause learning to occur in our classrooms.

I enjoyed this post because it was a chance to learn about how to grow learners through the lens of a subject I am not very familiar with. Yet, I understood every comparison made. In teaching the history of the music the students learned why. In learning to find their own mistakes and self correct they learned how. In composing their own pieces they demonstrated the mastery of both.
